Other useful information when visiting Warsaw

You’ve been invited to a bachata festival and you can’t wait to dance the night away with your friends.

But before you go, there are some things you need to know about this amazing city and its unique culture.

Here are some tips to help you prepare for your trip and make the most of your time in Warsaw.

First of all, you need to know that Poland does not use the Euro as its currency.

Instead,
it uses the Polish Zloty (PLN), which is divided into 100 groszy. One zloty is worth about 0.22 EUR as of April 2023.

You can also use your credit or debit card to withdraw cash from ATMs,
but make sure you have a travel card that does not charge conversion fees.

Secondly,
you need to know that Warsaw has two airports:
Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW) and Warsaw Modlin Airport (WMI).

The former is the main international airport and the hub for LOT Polish Airlines, while the latter is a smaller airport used by low-cost carriers like Wizz Air.

Depending on which airport you land at, you have different options to get to the city centre.

From Chopin Airport,
you can take a train, a bus or a taxi.

The train is the fastest and cheapest option, as it takes only 20 minutes and costs 4.40 PLN (about 1 EUR) to get to Warsaw Central Station.

The bus is also convenient and cheap, as it takes 30 minutes and costs 4.40 PLN to get to the Palace of Culture and Science, a landmark building in the heart of Warsaw.

The taxi is the most comfortable but also the most expensive option, as it takes 20 minutes and costs around 40 PLN (about 9 EUR) to get to the city center.

From Modlin Airport,
you can take a shuttle bus or a taxi.

The shuttle bus is operated by ModlinBus and connects the airport with Warsaw Central Station and other destinations in Warsaw.

It takes about 40 minutes and costs 19 PLN (about 4 EUR) if you book online or 33 PLN (about 8 EUR) if you buy a ticket on board.

The taxi is again the most comfortable but also the most expensive option,
as it takes 40 minutes and costs around 120 PLN (about 30 EUR) to get to the city center.

Thirdly,
you need to know that Warsaw uses the plug type F, which is compatible with plug types C and E.

The voltage used in Poland is 230V and the electrical frequency is 50Hz.

If you come from a country that uses a different plug type or voltage, you may need an adapter or a converter to use your electronic devices in Warsaw.
